Badha Konasana: Cobbler’s Pose
Badha Konasana is one of my “go to poses.” Do you know at the end of some yoga classes when everyone is getting ready for Savasana, sometimes the teacher might invite you to do another pose? A pose that you’re working on or that it’s good for you. Well, that’s what I mean by “go to poses.” If Badha Konasana was not part of the class, I make sure I take at least five breaths in this pose before Savasana. Why? You might ask.. Oh, the many reasons why.. At first, before this teacher yoga training, I would just do it because it felt good and I know I needed (and still need) to increase flexibility in the hip area. Now, I can say it’s because I have learned of the great physical and mental benefits of the pose. At the physical level it supports hip joint, thigh and pelvic flexibility. Open those hips! Stimulates abdominal organs and kidneys, and it also improves circulation, but wait there is more for the ladies, it eases menstrual and menopausal discomfort. This pose also helps relieve mild depression, anxiety, and fatigue. Ask me again, why? Why not? It’s an awesome pose! Give it a try, and maybe you will add it to your list of “go to poses.” LIGHTRAIL YOGA TEACHER TRAINING http://www.lightrailyoga.com
