Mother’s Blessing
Women who choose mother’s blessings want something more intimate than the typical baby shower. They want to feel more empowered about birth, especially if they’re preparing for a natural birth. Respectfully inspired by a sacred Navajo ceremony, called a Blessingway, a Mother's Blessing is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the mama-to-be (and recurring mamas, too!), as the women in her life come together as her ‘village’ to show their support and love for her as she continues on this journey.
Mother blessings usually take place in the third trimester. I would advise not having the mother blessing later than 35 weeks in case the baby arrives earlier than your due date. You can have your mother blessing at your home, a friend/ relative's home, park, beach or a hired hall. Usually I would meet you at the venue to see what it's like to planning a beautiful environment for the gathering. Mostly, a mother blessing gathering takes around two- three hours for the different activities, with food and drink afterwards.
I can organize a Mother Blessing for you, suggesting ideas for a wonderful, unforgettable event. This ceremony is curated and created with YOU. As we work together, we’ll settle on rituals/activities that feel authentic and meaningful to you and your journey.
A gathering of beloved people who

What do you do during the Mother’s Blessing?
-
A unique way to celebrate the 'mama to be'
Together with the women closest to the mama to become, you help her to prepare physically and mentally for the birth through the following activities:
GROUNDED OPENING: A beautiful, funny and valuable opening of the ceremony.
INTENTION: Everyone brings a poem, letter, inspiring quote or image. We keep this in a nice booklet. This is also how she feels at a later date, the support of all the women who are dear to her.
FOOT BATH/MASSAGE: Literally spoiling and taking care of the pregnant mom.
-
Sit in a circle and create a deep bond of love and support
FLOWER CROWN : Feel the love, celebrate beauty and life! You are a goddess!
BIRTH CANDLE: All those present receive a candle. We light the candle during the ceremony. When the mama goes to labor everyone light the candles re creating the circle support energy.
OFFERING: Sharing of a letters, songs, poems, quotes or prayers.
BIRTH FLAGS: We create beautiful flags with positive affirmations. Affirmations have the ability to motivate you, strengthen your focus. The mama to become will hang those beautiful messages at home.
Why have a Mother Blessing?
A mother blessing reminds us of the sacred nature of pregnancy, the miracle of bearing life within your body and the importance of a network of women to support you.
Historically women during pregnancy and motherhood have been revered as creators, nurturers and goddesses. A mother blessing can help you connect to this ancient tradition and relax and enjoy those last few weeks of pregnancy
The ceremony is a sacred space to share stories and release fears. A place to feel safe, nurtured and held, releases the hormone oxytocin which reduces stress levels and contributes to an easier birth and successful breastfeeding
Research has shown that social support, especially from friends and families has a significant effect on a first time mother’s mental health and chances of developing post-natal depression. Hearing from your loved ones about their connection to you, how you met, what they love about you will help you prepare for the days when early motherhood can be difficult,
Once you contact me, we will have an initial discussion about what you (or your friend if you are organising it for a pregnant friend) would like. The fee includes preparation time and facilitation on the day. Please contact me for fee.
