Supta Matsyendrasana: Reclining Spinal Twist
Supta Matsyendrasana is part of the finishing poses and it goes with any yoga sequence. I love to practice this pose after Badha Konasana and before Savasana. It’s the perfect pose to practice before the final relaxation. After you lay down in your back, bend you knees and bring them close to your chest (take a moment here,) then drop both knees over to one side and keeping the shoulders down and arms extended (or bended) turn the head the opposite direction. Practicing this pose has great benefits. It stretches the spine and back and it releases tension. Also, like many of the twisting poses it improves digestion and stimulates internal organs. Sometimes I find myself doing this pose before going to sleep! What’s your favorite finishing pose before Savasana?LIGHTRAIL YOGA TEACHER TRAINING http://www.lightrailyoga.com/
